What is Aura Art?
Most of my life I have been creating art in one form or another. I always loved non-objective and abstract art because of the freedom of expression. It wasn’t about accuracy in line and form. It was about interpretation, a personal visual with sometimes obvious, and sometimes “secret” meanings.
***
Recently in my artworks, a style that I call Aura Art has come into creation. I just love throwing colors on canvas, painting by feeling through intuitive messages or urges. I do my best to really be present in the moment and tune in to spirit of the painting. Specific messages may come through boldy, or it may be a more vague feeling of mystery. Either way, there is a magical experience that goes on in every artwork experience. There are layers of messages, feelings and thoughts, just as there are layers of paint on the canvas. It is all integrated.

So what is the process of ordering an Aura Art Creation?
If you feel called to aqcuire a painting from me, you can contact me at inspiredshell@gmail.com and simply let me know you are interested in a painting, and we go from there.
I will find out more about what you are looking for. Maybe you have a specific image you are going for…maybe you already know you want a painting full of purple and white spirals, with a bit of glitter and a lot of “light” to go on your gray bedroom wall. Or maybe you have no idea what you want, but you like earthy tones. Maybe you are looking for a painting that emulates a certain word, like Peace or Celebration. Do you like details and variety, or simplicity? Maybe all of the above. Maybe you have absolutely no clue what you want and you just want me to paint what I feel is right. This is all OKAY!

What is the painting process like?
Tuning in to begin a painting is a very magical experience for me, even when it appears to be or feel mundane. Sometimes I am urged to totally declutter and clear my space in order to really feel free and open to receive energy that goes into the painting. Other times I am told to JUST DO IT, even when my space is not up to par. The creative process for me is just that, creative. I love variety and change up the experience all the time. Sometimes painting is a just part of my daily ritual, and I’ll do my usual routines like shower and cleanse myself, eat a nourishing meal, take a walk outside in fresh air, and then go inside and pick up the paintbrush.
There is usually a lot of image play in my mind, I see colors flash through like movie scenes, or I’ll be inspired by the colors I see in a particular flower. The possibilities for inspiration are infinite. Sometimes I have absolutely no clue what colors I’ll be using, or what the style will be. I just start squeezing paint out of the tubes on to the canvas, and begin swirling them around with my paintbrush. Sooner or later, images begin to create themselves and then I go in with finer details. Or sometimes I leave things in the raw, vulnerable and unrefined stage if I feel they are meant to be that way.
Every once in awhile the experience is very intense emotionally and I receive profound healing messages that touch me quite deeply. Sometimes the experience is different for the recipient. It may be more or less intense, or the recipient may have a totally different interpretation of the painting, and that is the way it is meant to be. What I hear and translate to the recipient may have different meanings for he or she than it does for me. Either way, there is healing on all sides, whether we notice it or not.

How much do the paintings cost?
All Aura Art Creations are paid for on a Pay-What-Feels-Good basis. This means that you name your price. I have gotten an extremely wide variety of amounts for any given painting, and I truly believe in the balance of the universe. I put the same amount of passion and love into every painting, regardless of how much I received for it. Although I must add, that when I have a large amount to work with, it sometimes frees me up to use a lot more paint and can add more depth to a piece. This is not always the case though, sometimes even if I received a small amount of money for a certain painting, the energy is there and I am urged to put a lot of time (and paint) into it. I follow my gut every time. You really have to get in touch with your inner feelings and what is right for you and your painting.

What about shipping & handling?
I do charge a minimum for shipping, and this depends on the size of the painting. For smaller paintings (up to 16 x 20 inches) shipping is generally about $8. For larger paintings, it may be anywhere from $15-25 depending on the painting’s weight.
Almost all paintings that will be shipped are done on canvas cloth, so that they can be gently rolled, wrapped, and placed into a mailing tube.
A handwritten description of the painting experience and what messages it entails is included and wrapped with the painting in scroll-like fashion.

I love my Energetic Rainbow you made for me so much. I hung it in my office where I can see it often throughout the day, and it inspires and calms and invigorates me all at once. I get so many comments and compliments on it. Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart, for the painting and also for the lovely lovely heartfelt description you sent along with it.

Abstract art has a strong following. Many find it fascinating and quite interesting. It challenges one’s imagination beyond the norm. Your choice of shapes and color are warm to look at. Enchanted Rainbow and Elegance for Melanie, are my favorite.
